Course Overview

This course focuses on preventing fragility fractures with non-pharmacological interventions that involve improving and maintaining normal bone mineral density and minimizing any further bone loss.

After completing this course, you should:

    • Understand the central role of the primary care physician in the prevention of fragility fractures.
    • Know the evidence for the value of calcium supplementation, with or without vitamin D supplementation, for healthy musculoskeletal aging according to expert consensus meeting of ESCEO and IOF.
    • Describe lifestyle measures to prevent fragility fractures with non-pharmacological interventions.

Self-assessment criteria:

    • You must complete a multiple-choice question-based assessment to test your understanding of the content covered in this course.
    • There are 7 questions with a time limit of 15 minutes to complete the assessment. Once this time has elapsed, the assessment will be considered completed at its current level of progress.
    • A maximum of three attempts are allowed to pass the self-assessment.
    • The pass mark is 80%.

If you successfully pass the assessment, you will be awarded certification for course 5 and progress to course 6.
